Quinceanera in Teal

I've never been to a Quinceanera, so I was delighted to be asked to do this cake!
The cake was two different flavors:
Fresh Strawberry cake with Strawberry Creme filling and
Chocolate Almond cake with Dark Chocolate Truffle filling.
The icing is whipped cream.
The cake was on the smaller side, with only 100 servings.
I was unable to find the correct type of ribbon needed for this cake, so I had to use white ribbon, and hot-glued the teal shear ribbon onto it.
It looked tacky, so I fixed it by adding the white printed ribbon to pull it together. I think it turned out good.
Happy 15th, Irasema!
You are a beautiful young woman and I wish you all of the good things life can throw at you! Congratulations!

Evalyn's Pony and Ted's Treat!

Awhhhh.... My niece, Evalyn. Her daddy missed her birthday due to their family being in the process of moving, so he surprised her with a special cake. She loves horses. She's a lucky little girl, to have a Daddy who makes sure she knows how special she is to him. And we are lucky to be her Aunties!!! Isn't she beautiful????

Then there is this delight! I made this for a good friend who was throwing a party for her husband, Ted. This frosting is the Hot Fudge frosting invented by Darla. The swirls are Hot Fudge with a tiny bit of cinnamon sprinkled on it. The cake itself is a White Sour Cream cake and the filling is Milk Chocolate Truffle.   I don't know Ted, but my guess is that he loved it!

Playstation 2 Anyone?

This cake was done for Cameron, a 9 year old who was having a game themed party.

We took liberties with the colors of the controller, because let's face it, all black and silver is bor-r-r-ing. The cake itself is a vanilla yogurt cake with milk chocolate truffle filling, and is the size of a half sheet cake. This whole cake is edible.
We used a new product on this, developed by Duff, from "Ace of Cakes." It's called "cake grafitti" and it is an edible silver spray paint. It is awesome, if not pricey. I wasn't impressed that the spraycan stopped working when it was only half gone, but the cake turned out pretty darn cute in spite of it!

This cake was expensive, due to the sculpting and fondant work. It's well worth the $60 bucks, though, don't you think?

Debbie's German Chocolate Cake

This German chocolate cake with homemade coconut pecan caramel frosting/filling is a full sheetcake. Myrna and I made it for her friend Debbie. Three layers of German fudge cake and three layers of filling. The smooth caramel on the center of the top is "cajeta" - a Mexican caramel that I learned about from my sweet ladies at work. It tastes as good as it looks. So yummy!

Miss Riley's Cake. Myrna Harris and I worked together on the fondant work. I made the patterns, she rolled it out and cut it. The round chocolate circle is Chocolate Ganuche! (MMM!) This $69.00 cake is a vanilla yogurt white cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberry filling. It is the same size as a full sheetcake. Check out the invitation to Riley's party that was the inspiration of the design...
